I've spent many hours behind a flame weeder and it truly is an amazing piece of equipment! The best time to flame weed is right after you till or disk your field before you plant. Burning off the exposed roots and weed seeds early on gives you a head start on weed control for the start of the growing season. With practice, you will be able to flame weed really close to plants without scorching the foliage. Thanks for the video Scott!
I have the same one. I found that once lit, I just turn it up fairly high and don't even use the trigger that much. I use it to burn weed seeds before planting along with anything that is growing. Some weeds will come back but I think over time it will cut them down to a minimum. A second burn helps 3 or 4 days later.
