I totally agree with this dad. The problem with most of our young men today is there aren't enough real men/father's/ role models who are willing to direct, teach, and discipline these young men instructing right from wrong and being consistent in their rearing. As a single mother I had to be thrice as hard on my son because there was no male role model to help in his development and I didnt want him growing up to be a sissy, a follower, a nuisance and menace to himself and society, etc. These boys think they are grown because they have reached a lawful age but they really aren't men until they can stand on their own two feet and pave their own way. I wish we had more men willing to be father's to their son's, and if it's not his son at least be a positive mentor.

I believe Johnson Sr. made a wise choice by withholding his son from participating in sports. Obviously, Johnson Jr. needs to mature. Importantly, Johnson Sr. recognized his son does not fully understand consequences of his decisions. Whether it be rebellion or peer pressure, Johnson Jr. lack self-respect and respect for authority. I would imagine these areas will be corrected swiftly. Without a doubt, Johnson Sr. will continue his father duty as a role model. Thumbs up to Johnson Sr. for not chasing greed but addressing his son future promptly.

Keyshawn is like my dad….all business. I agree with him taking his son out of college for this reason. However, I don't agree with the message that he can smoke weed later, but that's just me. I don't think we need drugs to alter our state of mind. I actually don't think t's a good idea for anyone to be in an altered mindset, particularly these days when there's so much spiritually going on around us. In the meantime, this goes to prove that no matter how wonderful a mother is, our kids NEED their fathers. I've heard women say "I don't need a man, I can raise my kids all by myself." Well, the woman may in fact not need the man but kids will always need their dad. A man has a different kind of energy and a different heart than a woman. He can put his foot down and keep it down and kids will respect that. A woman has to alter her natural energy to be naturally tough like that and her tongue is so vicious that what she says to her child has the inadvertent potential to break the child in the wrong way. That's why you need balance in child rearing. The woman can stop the man from going too tough and the man can shield the kid from the harshest wrath of the woman's tongue. I've been mad at my kids for things and after venting to my husband, I find that I approach to them is a lot less harsh than it could have been. If they only knew! lol Anyway, I love this video.

He is correct, he is his son, but one thing that parents should do is when they say to the child no, they should explain the no behind the answer, like the weed, there are pros and cons (even in life there are pros and cons) , however, smoking is bad for your lungs, makes you anxious or paranoid, at times depressed, it may affect on your memory, irritates your respiratory system, gives you an addiction and financial problems…etc..and just because something is in trend you don't follow the mass, follow the path that is least taken (not when walking in the alley) and one should rush to his goals like a horse with blinders. All the distractions around you is to slow you down from reaching it. And weed is a distraction..and to become an athlete one should strives to live healthy and smoking is unhealthy. And while reaching your goals never lose yourself or forget who you are, be authenic to yourself and to your beliefs. And people whom you hang with are like rain, some refresh you and others drown you with floods of turmoil. Therefore, use your reason and be aware. And be a story that teaches and inspires many people….and why explain? Because your children will learn from you.
