WOw Dave and Herb! You guys always say something that rescues me out of my brain funk. "(paraphrased) enjoy the journey so much that the destination becomes irrelevant." Thanks!
Herb looking good take care D & H
Great info as always. Great to hear hearing and making things loud discussed. I record with my headphones at low volume and I mix at low volume these days even though I want the end result to be loud and rocking. I did "LOUD" for a long time at gigs and I haven't been gigging recently, just recording, but I really enjoy loud volumes at gigs, competing with loud drums and creating the roar. That roar is one of the greatest experiences in life. However, my ears are at a point where they HATE even a little compression, which is terrible because I need to use it in a mix sometimes. There are store bought CDs that I can no longer crank when I drive. The compression hurts after a while. Some music doesn't bother me if it's loud. Some music screams COMPRESSION!!! I do as much as I can in a mix with volume automation and EQ to decrease need for compression and the end result is also a little more of a natural sound, which what I prefer anyway, but compression certainly can get to be a necessary tool at some point in the process..
What herb said at 8:20 about health and it affecting your creativity is such a good point. Eat right, get rest, stay physically active when you can. Working will make you better at your job, but it's equally as important to recharge your batteries and pay attention to your health.
Man, Pensados Place is world class. Thanks guys!
Dave said "its better to sound new than to sound good" in regards to analog vs. digital and peoples ears being use to the digital. I think sounding good is the main goal though whether it sounds new or not.
also, there are cracks in the audio every so often. I thought my speakers were messed up but rewinded it.
How does a really really good male artist get on Vevo??? Radio???? Without caring about single women…… Lioness creatures.

Love you guys man!!! I'm not balling but I would love to work with a pro mastering engineer that isn't too expensive. I feel like I need to present my mixes to someone who has a better ear than me. Can you guy point me in the right direction? Thanks

I've got a question, Why is it that I haven't wanted to watch any episodes since Bob Clearmountain?
