Sam Harris is extremely resistant to bullshit, and he sees bullshit as anything outside the realm of Reasoned Discourse. The idea of persuasion, on the other hand, is not grounded in facts and logic, but emotional response. Sam will attack the morality of illogical coaxing; he will decry the condescension implied, the abandonment of the Jeffersonian ideal of the educated democratic populace, and the danger of the skilled demagogue. Scott may counter that the Enlightenment concept of an educated populace electing democratically was always an elitist chimera–a pleasant fiction no better than any Fox News-flavored variety show–and that the whole time, we were simply leading the Interior Elephant with a different set of verbal triggers.
Scott's most obvious response to Sam's coming tut-tutting will be the basic idea of science: the unemotional analysis of careful observation. Scott will be able to point to the evidence of persuasion, such as (obviously) Trump's persuasion of the electorate to place him in office, his persuasion of NATO to kick out more money, his persuasion of aliens NOT to try to come here illegally, etc. Sam will accuse Scott of "just-so" stories, as he did with Jordan Peterson, of falling into confirmation bias, which is what Sam does when confronted with any belief system not rooted in a non-Enlightenment mythos.

I so agree about edibles. I have family in Colorado and I've been going there for years. The edibles high is just not the same. It's strong. But it doesn't have that part that tickles your brain and gives you the sensation of having insight and inspiration.

I'm German and I "interfered" in the U.S election on behalf of Trump, because Hillary is insane and I did not want her to rule America on behalf of the world. Also we've had enough wars with Russia (it's not fun). We need to find common ground.
I'm pretty sure they didn't want Clinton to invade Syria, putting us in direct conflict with Russia.
