I don't do drugs and I wonder why people do.
It's mostly all THCA on the plant and that's the inactive version of THC before it's converted off the plant by drying or heating it like when you smoke or cook with it… So although it sounds good, animals getting high from eating raw buds or plant material doesn't really happen. BTW if you got a good healthy plant it'll usually produce enough sugary starches that most insects don't have the right organs to digest so the sugars turn to alcohol and and kill them pretty much from alcohol poisoning but bigger animals are safe cause they got the organs to digest it many a liver

I know this video is old as hell, but your diagram of THC at 0:30 is incorrect; it has two double bonds and a methyl group on the same carbon atom totaling five electrons shared with only four available. The only double bond to that carbon atom in the ring is probably the one on the right if my orgo intuition is correct.

The insect defense reason doesn't make much sense seeing as it needs to be heated to be turned into active thc that will get you high. I've heard that it is used for protection against the elements, for whatever reason. Which is why if you lower the temperatures in the grow room or leave them in 24-48 hours of darkness before harvest, it will increase their trichome production. Because they think winter is upon them and it's the end of their life
It is a disrespect to pharmacology to not state that cannabinoids receptors where discovered due to the fact that cannabinoids bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors. I believe this was discovered with the sythetic cannabinoid JW-H. It is not misleading that they are called cannabinoid receptors; excogenous ligans such as THC or MORPHINE for the -μ Opioid receptor are used to discover receptor binding in VIVO. In fact this is how most receptor sites are discovered..
THC gets us high by replacing anandamine. Interesting.. So when the cannabis plant from Scary Movie rolled and smoked a human, it replaced his thc with our anandamine.
