  3. Mr. M. says:

"The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds
and we put 'em in the sun to dry
then we mashed 'em up, cleaned 'em all and put 'em in the corn cob pipe
Smokin them wildwood flowers got to be a habit
    We never seed no harm
Heck we thought it was kinda handy
take a trip and never leave the farm
Take a big old puff of that wildwood weed
next thing ya know you're just wandering around behind the little animals…"

I remember Jim Stafford when I was a little Kid, singing "I don't like spiders and snakes…and that ain't what it takes…to love me." Yup, he was singing his song to Kermit the Frog. As Darran T said, below, there was a time when a T.V. wasn't flat, there were only 4 or 5 breeds of dogs, a divorcee was talked about behind her back and "central air conditioning" meant you owned two fans. Jim Stafford was a real Entertainer

Ya, one of my grandmother's favorite songs, and she always swore she wasn't a hillbilly. And she walked funny, too, always a little lopsided when on flat ground 🙂 Ask about her days as owner of a speakeasy, she could go on for hours how to make the sour mash just so, how many ounces of juniper berries, and NEVER add sugar! Guaranteed to get the revenuers on your case. Her favorite saying about the 20s, less government, saner laws. the weed? She smelled it on an older brother and demanded to see it, then took it off him because kids can't handle it… 🙂

  23. Justin Smith says:

    Sniffin burlap…

Every single artist that makes it has her or his on style, ain't it great ,how are you different with yours , I can't find mine , maybe in the next life , sad part ,so many that do ,don't live a full life , why come that is you think

  25. Jerry BISBO says:

The song was funny, but it was propaganda against legalization. It made many think you could get high and do very crazy things from jus chewing on a plant.

Watching this (and it being one of my all time fave song about weed lol) it looks kinda simple to play. 3 or 4 chords strait finger pickin.

I grew up in a rural farming community and I remember the older folks being very independant and antiestablishment. Today rural equates to right wing conservative. Very sad times we live in.
