this show is a total mess! At least Akademiks had his head in the game, but never-the-less the show has the worst uninformed presenters…..

  2. Mo Mo says:

The industry got ya so scared to speak the truth about Cardi, tell the truth and shame the devil. All these people dragging Nicki everyday, just remember that Nicki was paying people's college tuition/student loans when Cardi was bustin people upside the head, but that gets no coverage, remember that https://www.cnn.com/2017/05/15/celebrities/nicki-minaj-pays-students/index.html .

So if Nicki express herself and frustration she’s the “ Mad black woman” but CB has every right

  8. Get into It says:

AK, you do.realize that's one of the reason Complex and JBP has such a following bc of the conspiracy theories yall u cover that tend to hold some weight. Her being a woman, it comes off different and people can't handle it. And y'all started to inform an uninformed crowd about drama going on behind scenes with shifted opinions. Even AK saying if she starts talking about it she's gonna seem "bitter" and Wayno quietly objected. so hush

The whole hip hop scene is scared of cardi because she’s loud and she can throw shoes!., nobody wants to critic that chick alll the radio shows everyone is scared of cardi man. Get yall heads out of her ass! She’s not that great she is just extremely popular she doesn’t come in my mind when I mention great female hip hop artist. Cardi b and Brad barbie are the same to me both have mad labels pushing us to fall in love with them trash

It wouldn’t surprise me if the intern was a barb and was paid to send that post so she can react that way so she can get out of being under the same roof as Cardi cuz she scared smfh talking bout there’s a conspiracy…you are the conspiracy….
Or BET allowed the intern to send the post so that she could go off and disinvite herself from the bet events so they don’t have to take back the invitation or maybe they just ain’t want her antagonizing the Grammy Queen Cardi….Cardi worked her ass off pre pregnancy first trimester second trimester third trimester after the birth of Kulture…live performances and appearances studio sessions…etc etc!!!

  11. Ryan Arand says:

Let’s be honest here, when 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me came out, it was the first double disc hip hop albums, and one of the rare, at the time, 5 Mic in the Source albums. It was one of the highest selling hip hop albums ever, even before 2Pac died. He never won a Grammy, and neither did Notorious B.I.G. in life, or after death. In fact the year Life After Death was easily the greatest Hip Hop album of ‘97, Puffy won for No Way Out. As they said, Nas hasn’t won either, and keep in mind, Illmatic is considered one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made. Note that Nas does have a Grammy very few people know about. He has one as the writer for Will Smith’s Getting Jiggy With It.

KRS-One hasn’t won one for his own material either, Snoop Dogg, as they said, hasn’t won one. And I can keep going with artists that deserved one male and female in Hip Hop. It’s clear that the Grammys do there best to avoid empowering and controversial artists who prop up the black community. Kendrick Lamar and early Kanye West were rare exceptions and in both cases, they happened after backlashes. For instance, Kanye lost best new artists, then Kendrick Lamar was snubbed the first year he was nominated and the backlash caused the Grammies to course correct. The reality is, a lot of Hip Hop legends have been left out of the conversation.

Nicki Minaj doesn’t say anything important at all with her music, she’s basically a pop artist, but she doesn’t play the Grammies political game, so she gets snubbed. Cardi B’s music is non controversial, and she admitted that she was asked to become a music artist due to her social media presence where they literally taught her how to rap a year before Bodak Yellow was released. I’m not saying she didn’t put in work, but even she admitted that there’s room to improve and you can hear it, takeout her auto-tune and production, watch her lip sync at award shows and big events, and you basically see someone popular for drama with charisma, playing dress up in hip hop. This is why people are upset that she won.

Look at the situation with one of the songs on her album where 2 other female rappers were on one of the beats. She wound up getting it because she was more popular, and she didn’t even write the lyrics. The way she raps is basic at best. It’s nursery in execution, but she has charisma, and as a DJ, when I play her songs, people dance, and if it makes people happy, it makes me happy. As a Haitian immigrant who grew up learning how to speak English through Slick Rick and early 80s and 90s hip hop albums, I’m attached to the music and the connection feels personal. You can tell that there are so many legends that deserved to win best Rap Album. Queen Latifah definitely deserved it back in the day, but her incredible song UNITY was taken badly by other hip hop artists at the time.

That being said, Nicki Minaj and Drake are like pop artists that happen to rap. Cardi B is like a corporate creation that’s learning how to write club rap songs that really aren’t timeless at all, but she speaks out a lot, which I applaud, despite saying some questionable things and treating the people who’ve worked for her very poorly, which I hope no one can get behind.

  17. Bus Town B says:

How about addresing the fact that now a days you can win or get nominated without lyrical content..or addressing that fact that the i.q. level of music has declined..there are numerous rappers from the 90s and 2000s that Cam rhyme circles around the winners now a days..not to mention the ability of telling a story with some kind of take away content besides meaningless nonsense

  18. Bus Town B says:

    Just saying

  19. Bus Town B says:

Why is she still on the show…give her a make up job

  20. Bus Town B says:

  28. The modern mongoloid says:

  29. AJ Jamaal says:

I'm sorry, Nicki is garbage. Since when was rap simply rhyming words. True rap tells a story, nicki only rhymes words. Cardi's rhymes are much better at story telling. Nicki belongs at young money because lil wayne can't rap either. What happened to the art of story telling?
