    Mmmmmm burnt rubber…..yummy.

  2. Peter Karel Kraus says:

Is there any real maui around? That sweet piney aroma from the late 70's early 80s was wonderful. The only seedless weed, at the time ,for my area. (Hartford) The occasional thai stick was good too. The colombian gold always had seeds. I wish I had learned how to grow a few colombian plants a year .

I'm of the old school So Cal 1970s to the 1990s I moved to Texas in 92.
Anyway let me start off by saying I totally appreciate the effort to recover the past strains. I'm sure I will step on toes when I say this but some of the "youth" who are exploring and exploiting the Canabis industry at this time have this huge chip on the shoulders deal and an attitude that they "invented" marajuana. As an old school stoner it's quite the turn off when you speak to some of these young kids and they disregard or dismiss you based solely on the fact that your old and probably have no idea WTF your talking about.
Now with that being said to see some of the old strains make a come back would be quite interesting. And to see how the younger generation reacts to this and if they will embrace it. I myself would love to get my hands on a few seeds from the past and would absolutely love to have some 1980s Humboldt,Fallbrook and Skunk.
Back when you purchased a bag solely on how it smelled and not how it looked!

Cheers and keep is informed to your progress!

Looking to do a retro project of my own. It was an east coast two toke pine tree that was lost around '85. The smell could go through walls. I could tell when my brother found it before he got in the house. It would be nice to know if he has any aims in this direction.

  7. FUNNIE Boy says:

  12. Stoner Steve says:

3 strains I will never forget smoking and one was an 81 Bay Area Skunk. One of the highest Ive ever been.

  13. c roach says:

That is so true. I quit for 10 years. And when I can back I thought I was me. Nope they took the skunky strains away. Which I loved and still do. I love the smells and the flavors.

  14. InConTruth says:

I know a man that lives around the Hearst Castle area that’s been growing outdoor since the early 70’s. He has a lot of the older strains he’s been sitting on for decades. I could talk to him if you’re interested. He’s very reclusive and has been off the grid since he returned home from Vietnam. We’ve talked about what he should do with his personal seed stash for years.

  15. Willie Growit says:

I wish the old heads would have had the foresight to carefully preserve some of the classic genetics…Panama Red, Alcopoco Gold, Skunk #1, Indiana Bubblegum, Purple Haze #1, etc.

  16. KRUMMZ π says:

Please bring that old school skunk (Hawaiian Skunk) back.
Don’t get me wrong, todays strains have come a long way but that skunk smell/taste DOMINATES over all

  19. NorthernCaliWay says:

Idk. A lot of strains out there that get u high as hell still. We wanna get high asap lol. Nothin like the old school strains that take u back I think that’s wat this guy wants but times have changed more breeding goin on. To each their own I love them all. All weed. I like smell taste visuals and effects. New strains out there still smell great.

Right on man flower is and always will be my favorite rought.

  24. Dystopia Gear says:

Kevin's so right about cannabis becoming a visual thing. Already in the 90s we were getting bud that LOOKED beautiful… but didn't really get you high. And on the other hand every now and then we'd get imported seeded brickweed that looked absolutely terrible but had a fantastic high, because the right genetics were still in it. (It always amuses me how kids today think Mexican weed is all garbage – never realizing that some of the best strains of all time have a heavy dose of Mexican genetics in them.)

  25. Dystopia Gear says:

Love hearing Kevin talk, but c'mon man!!!! You've been working on this for yearrrrrs, put some clones & seeds out already. Just one old-school skunk strain to get the market interested. Please. Talk is one thing, product is another. You'll still have the rest of your life to keep sifting through and bring out more.

  26. bob roberts says:

some of the nicest and strangest pots I have had did not look like high times covers, amazing times..wish I could try some of those again

  27. X RAY says:

I have clones of Skunk #1 from 1977-78. From when I lived in Daly City, developed in Northern Cal.
No genetic drift. not from seed store but the original hybrid. (Highland Columbian, Mexican, Afghan)can send photo if you wish. Been offered $1,000.00/clone. Always refused. No you can't have any.. Nothing like it since. Skunk#1 after 77-78 became BUNK. This is the first Skunk#1 The Land Races these were bred from no longer exist for LONG time. Columbia used the land for cocaine when it became more profitable. The terrorist took over the fieldsin Afghan and grew poppies to produce opium to make heroin, and the USA sprayed the fields in Mexico with paraquat. I got the real skunk. Cannot be reproduced, as the Land Races it was made from no longer exist.

  28. Wuellfredo says:

When you say copy do you mean seeds or clones?

  29. JoJo says:

Nothing better than some nice fresh, smelly skunk, when you take a hit and your mouth starts to water.

My first high was 88 ,skunk, the strong smell was the thing I remember as well. Great video.

  31. warlocksden says:

The early brown Colombian weed had a awesome smell to it

  32. Anton Jackson says:

Nirvana super skunk smells and taste like old road kill skunk. $20 for 10 beans.

  33. Fbomb 37 says:

Kevin, I love what you are doing!!!! I sure do miss those old strains…we just didn't know what they were…I sure look forward to what you bring back!!!

  34. Sean Leonard says:

As a breeder I hope he spreads the love.

  35. Cali Grower says:

Dude that was my most favorite strain growing up. It's like the number one strain that sticks in my head. I remember when I would be riding anywhere with my parents and I would smell a skunk that got hit on the side of the road and my parents would wonder why I love that smell so much..lol

  36. dirigoelectric says:

Sweet stinky weed. That’s what it’s all about.

  37. Clark Kent says:

This guy is my hero, thanks for all the info Kevin.

  38. gr33n m00se says:

thanks Kevin ….always good to listen to you dropping the knowledge great stuff.

  39. Woody Stemms says:

Old-school Skunk … a thick, short, very dark, wide to overlapping leaf, with a single stalk, ( and huge, hard, seeds ) didn't disappear just because of selective breeding by growers. It was the climate, the elevation, and the latitude. It took three seasons in the US for the expression of the genes to turn bushy, with narrower leaves, and lighter color. To start again, you would have to go to the source, and these days, it's just not safe. Casual travel in the home areas, gathering a few land race seeds along the way, ended long ago.

  40. Benji Geralds says:
